Membership Portal
UX Design
Content Management System

Overview
As the first and only product management club at UBC, we are developing our own membership portal to streamline the membership sign up and event sign up process.
I spearheaded the design process, collaborating closely with a team of 4 talented developers.
We successfully shipped our first MVP in October, with ___ Member signed up, and currently working on expanding the functionality of the portal in phase 2.

Problem Discovery
Why do we need our own portal?
Since our events are open to members and non members and are also paid and unpaid, we need to always manually check things when we use Luma. We want to make a portal that streamline this process, less prone to errors and be scalable for future team use. We also recently rebranded so we wanna work on that as well.

Phase 0: Minimum Viable Product
Creating an MVP, focusing on membership sign up flow.
For each phase, we go through the design to development process of the product. We believe in shipping fast, testing fast, failing fast and going back right up for each phase as this helps us a lot in getting feedback quickly and while getting to test out with real users.
Pain Point
Current membership sign up process and payment is a hassle.
The current flow of the membership sign up process requires the execs team to note down student’s information manually and receive a payment through e-transfer. Since many execs can be doing this process, it is hard to track information one who paid, who doesn’t.
Process Highlights
User Flow
I developed a user flow [attach] accommodating for 3 different types of potential members (UBC Student, Other Uni Student and Non Students) Each custom field will be dynamically shown based on the previous response.
Focusing on the MVP
While not going to be fully functional, we can’t just have the sign up process for show if we want users to actually use it. We decided to also focus on creating the most basic page for the main home page, dashboard and event page while focusing most of our main energy into the sign up flow.
Making sure components are reusable and scalable and leverage existing system when needed.

Testing mass signup before the big launch
100% Success Rate
Since we would need to know that the portal can handle a lot of users at once to support the current upcoming club day, we conducted a user testing with an entire execs team and got XX success rate. Our dev teams worked on some bugs.
Key Impact
10+ screens designed in the first phase, launched, 68 Members Sign Up
The current flow of the membership sign up process requires the execs team to note down student’s information manually and receive a payment through e-transfer. Since many execs can be doing this process, it is hard to track information one who paid, who doesn’t.
Currently working on
Leading the 2nd round of iteration, focusing on event sign up flow
The current event sign-up process is challenging and confusing. Some events are exclusive to members, while others are open to the general public. Certain events require a fee, while others are free, with different pricing for members and non-members. Additionally, it's difficult to track these details accurately in real time.
Below are examples of the challenges the executive team is facing, along with a sneak peek at what’s happening behind the scenes.
